The owners wanted the house to feel calm enough to work from and warm enough for winter weekends with grandchildren. We took out a wall between the kitchen and the living room, lowered the hearth and lined it in honed travertine.
Everything else stays quiet: limewash in a warm white, oak floors with a matt oil, linen at the windows and one generous sofa facing the trees.
