Japandi is the most requested style in our studio this year, and the easiest to get wrong. It is not beige plus a bonsai.
What it really is
- Fewer, better pieces: every object earns its place
- Low furniture and long sight lines
- Natural materials left honest: timber, clay, linen, paper
- Contrast: one dark element, such as charcoal or walnut, anchors the room

See the Cedar & Clay House and the Courtyard House in our portfolio for two very different takes on it.
